The Best Refurbished MacBook under $500 (With a Real Warranty)
For a refurbished MacBook under $500 that still includes a real 1-year warranty, we'd pick an M1 MacBook Air or a Mac Mini M1, starting at $399. It's the right call for students and first-time Mac buyers — full Apple Silicon performance, 80%+ battery health, and whole-machine coverage if anything fails in year one.
What you get under $500
under $500, you can get genuine Apple Silicon — not an old Intel relic. For students and first-time Mac buyers, an M1 MacBook Air or a Mac Mini M1 hits the value mark: fast enough for years of real work, supported by macOS into the early 2030s, and backed by our warranty. Anyone selling a MacBook under $500 without a warranty is selling you the risk, not the savings.
Why the warranty matters at this price
A cheap MacBook with no warranty is a gamble — one logic-board fault and you've lost the whole "deal." Our Luxury Certified Macs under $500 carry a 1-year whole-machine warranty and a 30-day money-back guarantee. The price is low; the safety net isn't.
